I am newbie in hosting. I read about private name server. Is it required for me?
What advantages I can get with it?

Some resellers choose to have private name servers for different reasons. When one of their clients does a WHOIS for their domain, it will show the nameservers of the reseller instead of the Hosting Company's nameservers.

I agree with you webmaster. Besides the “appearance”, when you decide to move servers or move host, you would not require to contact all of your clients and ask for them to change to new name servers. When you change servers or move hosts, all you do is update the IP’s of your private nameservers. The domains begin propagating to the new server as soon as you update your name server’s IP addresses.

When users decide to shift servers or upgrade them, private nameservers make it easy to handle the DNS. you won't need to change the nameservers for each domain name instead, you only update the IP's of the private nameservers and the domains work as they are.

Great tip! thanks. I believe when a end user checks that a reseller user uses private nameservers it gives that brand image feel. Other than branding reasons, there are no other benefits that I can think of.

Usually the format of private name servers is ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com or dns1.yourdomain.com and dns2.yourdomain.com.

There are many benefits of having private name servers such as most of the resellers choose to have their own nameservers for appearance reasons. Using the anonymous nameservers of web hosting providers can be less professional looking for a hosting reseller. Besides, the look of using private nameservers, when you switch from one server to another, it is necessary to inform your clients and ask them to change the old nameservers. As soon as you update your name server ip addresses, the your clients will begin propagating to the new server.

This is very necessary and helpful if your hosting business is outgrown and requires to upgrade to a VPS or a dedicated server hosting plan.
