Default Linux VS Windows

Hi

Okay, I know this is quite old topic, which is already chew over, but I haven't seen any personal opinions about both operating systems here, so I would like express my thought about both OS (And it is obvious, because I am starting this discussion ).

Using Linux operating system is like living in a house with the best friends, where you can share every moment at free of cost. Even though, you can feel something new, and fresh with Linux. And when you stuck with some problem, open communities network always being there to resolve concern issues.

On the other side Windows is like living in an apartment on rental basis. Every morning when you wake up you may think “how can I afford licensing cost of OS and its relevant applications next year”.

What you think?

I think Linux is a great operating system which is secure as well. May be few Windows fan disagree, but who cares..... Even few of them might say that Linux is not represent the good will of OS, but I can only say it's not charging them for extra level of performance.

I agree with you louis cause linux is open source and the softwares as well as many application of linux are free of cost.

Security wise also linux is more secure OS.The hardware manufacturers have made big amelioration in hardware for linux that today linux sustain most hardware devices.
Thats the greatness of linux.

Performance of linux OS on networks is far higher that windows cause it can handle maximum number of users compared to windows.

Flexibility of linux is also a key factor cuse you can use it for high performance server applications and for embedded systems also.

So linux is more reliable than windows.

Guess what OS we are using?

I admit that Windows OS is more sophisticated than Linux, because they know less and understand more.

Honestly, nobody actually uses an OS; usually we use programs on our computers and the only mission of OS is to assist those programs run. OS itself does nothing; it's only waiting for programs to ask for resources, that's it. So what makes point to pay for OS license cost?

All over the World web hosting for Linux is catching on very fast. In fact, Linux operating system runs on variety of hardware such as AMD CPUs, PowerPCs, Intel, Silicon Graphics workstations and Digital Alpha computers. Apart from being safe and reliable, Linux web hosting is also very economical.

Users can develop web site using the familiar interface of Microsoft tools such as, Visual Interdev, and Microsoft Access. With ASP users can develop a database-driven web site using Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL as the database.

I agreed with you Crish Bronzs, but why should we pay for the license cost for using those Windows applications whose alternatives are much better and even they comes under the open source category.

IMO, Windows is quite similar to crybabies, always hungry for the money. On the other side, Linux and its applications are seems real men, because they upload their stuff on ftp, and allows their users to modify it.
