Well as far as Multiple domain Hosting is considered it is like this, a person can host multiple Sub-domains or Add-on domains on the same hosting package. This is possible even in case of shared hosting.

Multiple means more than one and hence Multiple domain hosting plan means a hosting plan which you can use to host more than one domain name. It is possible to host more than one domain with all the hosting plans. Especially, when it comes to Linux hosting plans, you will be able to host unlimited domains with them, however, there are some limitations on Windows hosting plans which you need to confirm with the hosting provider.

You host multiple websites on one package basically. Mostly these are added as addons. Addons are fully registered domains names and they have a separate website. So to a end user it is like a completely different website.

Multiple domain hosting is getting quite common and popular nowadays. Due to the ability of hosting multiple domains under one single account you don't have to create multiple web hosting accounts and pay for them. With cpanel you can host unlimited domains but with Windows there is always a limitations for hosting domains names.
