CentOS would be a very good option for your dedicated server.

There are many advantages of centOS. Those are as follows :
a. CentOS is very flexible and also compatible.
b. CentOS is a open source Operating System, so it can be utilized with large number of applications.

When you select operating system then you obviously think about your database.

Yes, I agree with you. There is a relationship between operating system and database. So what might be best for one type of site, may not be best for another.

Seems you are right.

I had no idea that databases and the OS are related with each other in this way. Could anyone please provide some more information regarding this?

Hi

Do define relationship between OS and database is like going to gas station and learn the procedure how to fill Gas in your car and etc.......it is so complected. Anyway, we provide complete management with our dedicated hosting services and we serve our clients to have a database installed on their machines. Hence, you don't need to worry.

However, if you are very eager to know relationship between DB and OS, then one thing you should keep in mind. It is very important to understand what things are essential to run database smoothly on your machine, and therefore your system should meet some essential requirements such as,

1.Minimum hardware requirements
2.Installation of RPM packages, which are required for DB installation
3.Configuration of Kernel parameters
4.Creating groups and user for DB Installation
5.Installing DB Software and etc.....

For more information you should consider below link.
