Hi

As a reseller web host, is it a good idea to offer the wide range of hosting plans? As right now I am offering shared hosting, but willing to offer VPS, and semi-dedicated server hosting. My intent behind this to grab the more potential customers from local market. Should I proceed with my intent or stay with what I am doing right now? If I wan to offer VPS and semi-dedicated plan, what kind of thing I need consider?

All it depends on your hosting budget. If you wan to offer VPS or semi-dedicated server hosting, then most probably you need to upgrade your hosting services to next level. You should prefer dedicated server hosting solution to offer the large range of products and services.

Definitely it is a good idea to offer clients more advanced hosting plans, but in addition you need to ensure that you are able to cope up all the management to fulfill every customers requirement. If you are going to offer more products and services to clients make sure you have a dedicated hosting plan otherwise it is good to stay with limited amount of products and services.

In my opinion you need to be more focused on small set of core offering so you can be able to provide the best efforts from your side and it is easy to handle such kind of customers whose requirements for the resources are quite low, however, you can include some attractive features with hosting plans such as domain names, SSL certificates, and e-commerce solution and so forth. If you are capable to handle the requirements of large websites, then you should proceed with your intent.

As reseller you can offer VPS plans if you have a dedicated server with a good specifications. You can also offer Dedicated IP, SSL, and Domain name pricing on your website so it will be more beneficial to attract more potential customers.

The reseller purchases the host's services wholesale and then sells them to customers for a profit. A certain portion of hard drive and bandwidth is allocated to the reseller account. The reseller may rent a dedicated server from a hosting company, or resell shared hosting services.

Yes, it is always good to offer full services. I am also planning the same thing.
