Default Regarding issue with SSL Certificate?

Hi

I am just planning to switch my web server to another web host to one with the higher configuration. Switching the server will change the IP address as well. But there is a problem, I have 5 clients on the server with SSL certificate. My question is, can I move the SSL certificate? Or after moving the server, client have to buy a new SSL? As I am moving server from one web host to another, it is not fair to ask client to pay for new SSL.

Hi

As long as you move the public and private keys and crt files over to the new server you won't have any problems. Just copy and paste the chunk of the httpd.conf file with all of the files that it points to over to the new server and you'll be running fine.

Hi

So I can move SSL to another server with out contacting SSL issuer, if I move all the files in good order. IP is not important here? I mean moving IP will change dedicated IP used by the web site. Hammering

Hi

One thing you need to understand IP does not matter here, all you need to ensure that all the relevant files and password.

Hello

According to my knowledge SSL certificate do not rely on IP addresses. SSL certificate rely on just domain name. Once you move the crt and key files and point the site on a dedicated IP you won't face any kind of trouble.
