.com necessary?

Hi!
Is a .com really essential to have a successful website or online business. Do you think .net, .info, .org etc. are just as effective?
Please give me some commend or suggestion about it.

Hi!
I think that if you require heavy traffic you should use .com. Since a lot of people who are just surfing and are trying to find something by typing in addresses, they will type a .com much faster then a .net. For example : Suppose You browse for used cars: You find usedcars.com you don't starting out with usedcars.net or usedcars.info.

That's why I think it would be good to get a .com.

Hi!
No doubt people have a normal thought that companies generally have their .com.

However, I would think it is more on your marketing skill and I have seen many .net/.info that can work as great.

However, I would not hope a fashion store to utilize a .net as mentioned by the others.

There are also some companies to do the unusual as to use .to or etc. I do not find any wrong in terms of utilizing such a domain.

So the choice is yours.

.com TLD is usually used for a Commercial organization or a website, if you have a to do a online business, then it suggested to have a .com tld.

Also its really easy to remember a site with .com tld, as in Bodhost.com or Google.com

The other tld like

.org is intended for non-profit organizations or organizations of a non-commercial character that did not meet the requirements for other gTLDs.

.net , is Originally intended for use by domains pointing to a distributed network of computers, or "umbrella" sites that act as the portal to a set of smaller websites.

But at last the domain name depends on your choice and its availability, there is no harm in using other tld's if the .com is already owned by someone else
