Default What is Offshore Web Hosting?

Hi

Certainly I come across with the term of offshore web hosting. I do not have any idea about it, what does it means? Even I have heard that using offshore shared or VPS hosting have the one major drawback. It seems to be a hot spot for scammers, is it true?

In Simple terms , Off Shore hosting, means hosting your content in different countries , other than your.

Most of the hosting, say in U.S bans illegal hosting, like warez or Adult Content.
So hosting your content outside U.S soil, in such country where such contents are legal and are permitted to host is called OffShore Hosting.

What makes offShore good for hosting content that you might not be able to host in your home country can also make it risky for your business. The host might be oversubscribed which would slow down your own website due to the excessive bandwidth pressures on the server, also if the hosting company goes out of business, you have little or no recourse for action.

Hi

Offshore hosting is a usual term to distinguish any hosting provider where their server is located outside US. As we know, Internet is rooted in US, so anything outside will be considered as a offshore. Some people normally mistaken as hosting that allows illegal activities against US law. IMHO, this is not always the case. Off/onshore is about location not law.
