Default What happens when your domain registrar is out of business?

What happens when your registrar is out of business? Do we loose the domain name? I don't think we can transfer the domain without their help?

Firstly, choose a well-established registrar and they are ICANN accredited.

In case if your registrar is out of business, you can contact ICANN and get your domain back. Make sure that you are the owner of your domain.

There are 3 contacts listed in the Whois directory for a domain name - an administrative contact, a technical contact and a billing contact. You should make sure all three of these need to be in your name.

Some registrar prefer to keep those in their own name. You should do a whois check to find out whether the company with whom you registered your domain name has set those details to your name. If not, request them to do so.

To make sure that all these contacts carry your name just check out the whois information.
I usually checkout the who is info in www. WhoisXY.com . you too can try here
