Personal Hosting Vs. Business Web Hosting
What is the difference between Personal Hosting and a Business web hosting package? Can we consider Personal hosting package for a business website? Everyone knows that for an online business SSL certificate means a lot, it is a way to secure your critical data or the transactions between your web servers and browsers. Somewhere, i heard that you need to pay extra charges to have an shared SSL certificate. Is it true?

Well, some of the hosting providers offer more resources i.e. disk space, bandwidth etc. with the Business hosting packages in comparison to a Personal hosting package. Also, some of them do offer 100% uptime guarantee with the Business hosting package

Yes. If the resources and features offered with the Personal hosting package is sufficient for your business website, you can surely consider a Personal hosting package to host your business website

Generally, web hosting providers offer shared SSL certificates for free with the hosting packages and charge for dedicated SSL certificates as they have to pay for it, however, it might be possible that some of the hosting providers charge for shared SSL certficates also :(
I would suggest you to confirm with the hosting provider before you choose a hosting package with the hosting provider.
Please feel free to post if you have any further questions.

Though it is termed as personal hosting package, one should not be misguided with the name.If a business website is small, similar to personal websites, and the resources offered with personal hosting package is sufficient for the smooth functioning, then one can indeed proceed with ordering it and hosting the business website onto the personal hosting package.

Some of the hosting providers offer a good control panel with the Personal hosting package as well as a Business hosting package. For example : cPanel control panel.
If you get cPanel control panel with the personal hosting package, you will be able to install shopping carts, forum scripts/applications, helpdesk scripts etc. on your website with it.
Hence, you can choose a personal hosting package if the disk space and bandwidth provided with it is sufficient for your Business website. However, before you choose it, better to confirm with the hosting provider about the control panel they offer and the functions it has

Very well explained
I think the difference lies in the worlds itself, Personal and Business. The hosting packages designed for the personal hosting is built for the Personal web pages or applications and that of the Business against the business websites considering the resource that would be typically needed for these hosting

Thank you for your appreciation
Apart from the resource allocation to the Personal and Business hosting packages, the difference is between the uptime guarantee or say the reliability of the hosting packages. Business hosting packages have to be more reliable in comparison to a Personal hosting package and hence some of the hosting providers even offer 100% uptime guarantee with the Business hosting packages
However, the charges of the Business hosting package with high uptime guarantee are higher in comparison to the Personal hosting packages.

Most of the small businesses misunderstood the term personal hosting. There are many web hosts that offer personal hosting in cheap rates. So, people think that in cheap hosting they don't get good uptime and features as you get in business hosting packages. However, in reality, personal hosting does offer some great features, good server uptime and much good in terms of security, stability and reliability.

It is actually incorrect to determine the reliability of the hosting package on the basis of the price. However, the price can actually give you an idea about the reliability of the hosting package.
For example, you cannot expect a hosting provider to offer you with unlimited disk space and bandwidth for $2 or $4 per month when it is not available and he has to pay much more than that if he needs some of it.
However, if a hosting provider is providing limited disk space and bandwidth for reasonable price, you actually get an idea that the hosting provider is somewhat reliable. Also, there are other measures and steps to check if the hosting provider is reliable or not.

I am sure there are still many people that flock to a web host site and expect super cheap prices for packages that are a little on the beefy side. It makes sense to a point that you get what you pay for, but for me, I still can not understand why so many people want something for free, or damn near close to it.

Well, as far as I know, you can host Business sites on Personal Hosting plans. It is just the difference of Uptime, I guess. Also, SSL Certificate is much important. It is always recommended to consider Dedicated SSL, even if the hosting provider offers you Shared SSL.
