Default Domains

I read that you need to have access to your DNS servers to change them for new hosting if you aren't using hosting with your domain registar. I have GoDaddy and Aplus for my domains, I don't know what is DNS and how do I find out to switch them when the time comes? I had a friend who dedicated her free time to helping me, but she has little time to do these things now. Is it a hard task?

I also need to know this information as it will help me once I know what I am doing. I have not yet bought domains for some site. Can I buy them with BodHost?

I do not know about others but I read today that on Godaddy you just go to your account and it will walk you through the process. It seems very simple.

DNS (Domain Name System) is a database system that translates an IP address into a domain name. You can change the nameservers for your domain. You will have to contact the domain registrar and ask them to change the nameservers to what you need. Once they are changed you can ask your hosting provider to point them to their server. It is not at all a hard or difficult task

No doubt, you can surely buy or register a domain name with BodHost. You can simply click the below link and enter domain name you wish to register, in the text field. If it is available for you to order, you can easily buy it. The link is:-

Hope that helps

Most times you can contact the place you are hosting with to find out exactly how they do things. I know with Dream Host it is almost a pain to get anyone to contact you back, so you should be okay for the two you have now.

I tried another hosting place some time ago and the service wasn't that bad. I couldn't afford it after a while so I cancelled. Does anyone has experience with what the customer service is like here. I get a good impression just from being on the boards seeing helpful comments from the mods and administrator.

Hello
1. Keep it short
Although some places allow you to register a name with up to 63 characters, you have to keep in mind that people need to be able to remember it, and easily type it into their browser. Try to register the shortest name that your customers and visitors will associate with your Website. The general rule of thumb is, keep it under seven characters if possible.
2. Dot What?
There are many different extensions available right now. For businesses, we recommend a .com suffix. It is the first extension that most people try when searching for a Website. Also, since it is one of the oldest extensions, .com shows that your business has been around for a while and that you have a well-established presence on the Web.
3. Avoid Trademarked Names
There are two really good reasons for this. First, it’s not very nice. We have all heard the stories about the zany guy who thought ahead and bought "some-huge-multi-million-dollar-company.com" and sold it to the company for enough money to retire on. But, remember that those companies, like yours, have spent lots of time and money creating their brand, and what goes around comes around.

It is not a hard task at all provided that we know where to go. First, you want to obtain nameservers for your domains on your web hosting server (find them on the Cpanel). After getting the nameservers, you would go to domain manager (in Go Daddy) and update the nameservers for your domain there.
