Default Questions about cloud hosting

I've done some reading about cloud hosting, but I am not quite understanding the concept. What market does it serve, and is it secure? Because, it sounds to me that it might have some inherent security issues.

Consider a big datacenter full of servers, and all are linked to each other and are load balanced inorder for all performing at their peeks, is a simple definition to "The Cloud". When someone hosts a website in a Cloud hosting architecture,it uses the combined resources of all the servers. The Cloud technology architecture provides a highly Fast and redundant network.
Usually in traditional webhosting, a website is hosted with a web hosting service provider on a particular webserver space allocated to your account. Once the resources starts falling short of resources, one has to upgrade to a higher plan.At some point of time, these upgraded resources too start falling short which hampers the performance of the website. But in the Cloud Hosting architecture, as per the websites requirements, the resources are automatically allocated to one's account. The applications one loads on a Hosting Cloud, automatically and immediately inherits clustered processing, load-balancing, and redundant storage.

So does cloud hosting in effect give someone inlimited hosting capabilities because of the shared servers? Is there any risk associated with cloud hosting?

From what I understand, the risks with cloud hosting are no different that conventional web hosting. You have to make sure that you hosting service provider is a sound one.

Cloud Computing doesn't refer to grid which means there is a cluster of servers that are setup to perform large activities. However, Cloud computing is dependant upon grids which have similar characteristics.

There are many cloud computing setup which do not have any centralized infrastructure.
