Bodhost.com | A long journey finally ends
We have been developing E-Commerce hosting Applications in ASP and SQL for several years. And one of the weak points always used to be the Server Hosting Part. We have tried a few local and national providers without satisfying results. For the past two years we were with Hostdepartment.com. Their reseller concept was pretty interesting, but they were not able to get their hardware problems under control. There was not one week without service interruptions for several days. Put simply, it sucked. At one point we looked into the VPS Hosting market.
Most VPS Hosting providers hide essential service elements in their great looking website. Especially when it comes to SQL Server related matters. I wonder how they can do business by tricking people into believing that everything is included and at one point the clients have to pay 15$ / SQL0-Database / Month.
A month ago we finally came along EasyCGI (Virtual Private Hosting). All I can say is stay the hell away from them. I don't have a problem to take care of my Private server if I can rely on the configuration. But the hosting server they gave me was totally messed up. And not to offer live support in a real time world is a shame. Tickets after tickets were created because nothing worked. No support from their end except for grumpy people telling me that I basically have to help myself. Only after I threatened to close the account did they finally admitted that their server was totally messed up. Btw, the 30 days money back guarantee is a joke because 20 days later I am still waiting for the refund.
I was very close to resign and starting to accept my misery when I accidently found BODHOST.com. I remember, it was close to Midnight (!!!) when I started a livechat with their sales department. I expected some illiterate sleepy sales rep who answers all questions with yes or no, but the Bodhost Sales Rep was fully awake and gave me explanations and options to choose from in correct and fluid English (We all know you can't take that for granted).
All my questions were answered patiently (the entire chat lasted 45 minutes). Unlimited SQL Server Databases, 24/7 Livesupport, ASP AND ASP.NET on the same server, Equipment that is fast and up-to-date, and employees who are able to communicate in complete sentences. Exciting enough everything at a very reasonable price.
I suddenly started to feel like Alice In Wonderland and so I thought I'd give it a try.
24 Hours later everything was setup and I was able to login to my Bodhost VPS hosting. And the speed was simply insane. You have to experience that for yourself in order to understand what I am talking about. You hit the enter button and the website is there. No delays. And please note that our main application is in ASP and powered by a very large SQL-DB. I never thought that speed was possible.
Of course I had my technical difficulties. I have never worked with Plesk before and while I was left alone at EasyCGI with a big Go F... Yourself, Bodhost has a secret magician, a ComputerWizard Of Oz. Let us call him Jack. I always compare Jack with a big bulldog. LOL. He never gives up no matter what problem he has to solve. And believe me, if you install custom-developed applications problems simply happen. BUT, where others says "Please send us a ticket" Jack would say "Please give me a minute", becomes silent, and when he returns the problem is resolved, and most importantly, it is reliably resolved.
A flexible Sales Department which is not hiding behind manuals and rules and technicians like Jack (they have more like him at Bodhost) make a webhosting company outstanding. And that is what Bodhost is. Outstanding. I have read a few bad things and a few good things about them but MY own reality says that I finally arrived at the end of my long journey.
I know it is a quite unusual review but I hope you can tell how happy I am with Bodhost.
