Semi-Dedicated or VPS?
Hi,
I have a text-based RPG site that has upwards of 100 users and I need to find a web hosting service that will handle that traffic and more.
I use mostly CGI/PERL scripts, and though the codes are constantly being updated, I know it can take up quite a bit of CPU/Memory usage.
I need to know a hosting company or plan that would hold up the site, or at least be able to recover if the resource limit is exceeded, until I can make adjustments.
The plans offered by bodhost.com seem to be fitting, but please help me decide whether I should go with Vitural server or semi-dedicated.
Thanks for your time.

Hello,
Thanks for considering bodhost.com Well, semi-dedicated and virtual private servers are more or less the same. However, virtual private servers are much more flexible when compared to semi-dedicated servers.
Our virtual private servers fit the best in respect to your requirements. You can also upgrade at any point of time without any upgration charges and our 30 days money-back guarantee is definitely a bonus for testing your match.

Thanks for your quick response.
So, after reading my proposal, you believe that I'm allowed to run such program (text-based RPG) on your hosting site? Last server I was with had warned me due to excessive CPU/Memory usage (it really wasn't that much usage, >~150Mhz and 150Mb but they did not give me much to start).
Thanks for your comments.

Hello,
Yes, you can go ahead and signup for a vps hosting package without any hassle. However, we would suggest you to opt for a Mid-segment plan (i.e. Linux Tech 02). Our 24x7 Tech support team are available round the clock to assist you in any situation.
Let us know if you have any further queries.

Yup if you compare features, then perhaps a virtual private server is definitely better. With VPS, you recieve shell access which is definitely worth my style. :D

linux is more secure than windows because linux has an open source code.it means developers can fix holes rapidily.and since linux is modified by
n No of programmers round the world its more and more difficult to hack linux
compared that to windows.
again linux platform is more safe compared to windows because its code is reviewed by so many people.

I would say it all depends upon the security tweaks on the server. Irrespective of the Operating System, it is more important to figure out as to how it has been configured and setup by the admins.
Risk is on both sides and cannot be ignored. Most importantly, if we take necessary steps on the server, it is difficult to hack a web server. ;)
