Default SSD vs HDD

Hello

I currently have an old Samsung SATA relatively noisy and slow, and I would like to replace it with something that has more fishing.

Being a fan of new technology at first I thought of a SSD, but then I saw that there were 7200 rpm hard drives much cheaper.

In short for those who have experienced the two share their opinions:

FYI:
  • I have a lot of documents (200 GB), so that the DSS would require me to use a USB drive
  • It has to be silent
  • It's got to be better than my current Samsung SATA

The use will be exclusively dedicated to Ubuntu.

Thank you in advance.

See it will not be too difficult. Any recent HDD should you get a nice difference from your old disk.

The SSD is good but it's still very expensive in price per GB. 200 GB to store (and) it will cost you an arm. Look while for a few tens of $$$ you can have 500GB or 1TB HDD.

Yes SSD is good and faster than HDD ( but not all, some SSD are too rotten you barely faster than a good HDD) that deposit, but if it is to the word and surfing the internet I do not see the point to invest money in SSD.

As you are big fan of technology so you can choose SSD, but if your budget is tight then you better go with traditional HDD.

It is all about your requirement. SSD is far more better performing than the HDD's and again SSD's are quite costlier when compared to HDD's.
