Default eBay vs E-commerce site!!

Hello

I am new to online business world and I am thinking about starting my online business. I have a Cars accessories shop, which is pretty popular in my town, so selling products through online portal will help me to expand my business quickly. I know hosting companies offer e-commerce solution, but let me know would people recommend using these? Can anyone recommend me a good hosting platform with good website builder? And what about eBay? It also offers selling products online, so as compare to eBay to own e-commerce website, which way is more beneficial?

Ebay? Nooooooooo, just stay away from them, because they charge a specific amount on each product sell. IMO, you should invest your money in e-commerce hosting. At initial stage you may think it's expensive, but once you start getting results, then you can feel it's more advantageous than third party online portal like eBay or Amazon. If you are looking for hosting solution for e-commerce; speak to sales department of BODHost, as they will assist you much better to suggest which type of hosting is more suitable for your online store.

E-commerce hosting is fine for online store, but you have to consider several factors:
  1. Do you want to cope up the operations of shopping cart software yourself?
  2. Are you proficient enough to do so?
  3. How will you take payment?
  4. Is shared hosting going to be okay?
  5. Do you need VPS or Cloud or Dedicated Server?

I wouldn't agree on rumors which say eBay is not a good platform. At initial stage selling products through eBay or Amazon practically a good thing. I would recommend you to use eBay to get started and then getting an e-commerce platform once you are making money through online portal.

Presumably, eBay would get less traffic. On the other side, your own e-commerce site will give you more power than eBay. In addition, having a website is a good sign and it also helps to establish a strong brand name in the market.

Ebay for e-commerce business, Noooo!! I have personal experience with it, but do you know a lot of people who have account their later complain about it. I suggest you to create website. It's a trusted way which is used by many successful entrepreneurs worldwide. With e-commerce hosting you gets an excellent customer support, flexible billing cycle. And if you are selling lots of goods as business, it's best to set your own online store and use it to establish your brand name in the market. Personally, when I am looking to buy stuff online I don't take any bother to visit eBay. I just filter Google results to search the best deals.

It would be a better option to host your own E-commerce website. You can consider a shared hosting plan as all the shared hosting plans support E-commerce websites. You can consider a free shopping cart and install it on the website and purchase a merchant account from payment gateways like Paypal to accept payments.
