Default Data center in differnet country

Does it makes any difference in speed if the server is hosted in the data center which is not located in my country?

Hi Sharron,

I don't think location of the server affects the speed at all.

Yes I agree with Christina location of the data center does not affect the speed of a website.

Browsing and downloading speed depends on a local ISP speed.

Yes we won't get proper speed unless and until our local machine has good speed ISP connections

I think downloading speed get affected when you are using your internet connection for other things such as email, web browsing, etc...

All Servers of Bodhost have 2 x 10 Gbps uplinks for our Datacenter. This can definitely enhance the performance and speed.

As correctly said by Carl, the speed depends on the Internet Service Provider. The more distance between the feeder and the end user the less is the speed that is practically achieved.
If the server you have chosen offers good speed and the ISP provides less then for sure you too would get less speed. But most of the people do not realise that, without knowing the actual reason they blame the web hosting provider.
It is a simple logic, the hosting company is providing you with a web server they aren't internet providers. To connect to the leased server one has to use the Internet connectivity that is provided by the ISP. If the ISP itself doesn't provide enough speed, then why blame the hosting provider.

Some people in the web hosting industry also want an answer to this question. And the answer is pretty simple. A Datacenter location does not affect the speed of the download or upload. However, the connection to the server and your Local ISP does matter.

As per my knowledge the speed of ISP connection is important. If there is any issue with the speed of connection, it 'll affect on upload and download process. Datacenter location does not matters.

We have 5 x 10 Gbps uplinks for our Data center. All servers have 100 Mbps Nic card and they are connected to 1 Gbps switch.

Our Data Center is connected to the Internet with highly redundant network through multiple Gigabit backbones having multiple peering with other networks. We have a total of 20,000mbits of network connectivity for all our Servers.

The Location of the Datacenter does not matter as long as the Connectivity provided to the servers is good. If the connectivity of the servers is not good than, a Datacenter in your own country wouldn't work for you.

Yes, well stated by Carl, if a datacenter is located in your country but has low connectivity to the servers then ultimately your connectivity would be hampered. Hence, the important thing is connectivity and not location.
