Definitely, CentOS!
If we talk about installing OS on home PC, I would consider RedHat however they charge for support (Phone Support and HelpDesk). Also I am not sure about the quality of support they offer for 15USD extra per month. So considering as the cheaper option with features like more secure, reliable, easy to install etc. I poll for CentOS.
Which one is your favorite distro, Amelia?

Yay CentOS all the way ! If given an option to choose more than 1, I'd go with Debian or Ubuntu after CentOS :D

No doubt, CentOS, I found to be the best of any Linux distros. It works really well on the servers. We have been providing it to our customers for longtime now and I am proud to say that there have few only few customers (Can be countable on fingure tips) who have come back asking for a change, but others have been really happy with it.
Fedora too is a good alternative to CentOS.
Control Panel support for Debian and Ubuntu aren't available at the moment.
But, my vote goes for CentOS for sure.
Lets wait for something better than CentOS to hit the market.

I have always preferred Linux CentOS as I think it is really simple to use and is more compatible with 3rd party Applications. I think most of the Forum members agree to my point and hence Linux CentOS has the highest number of votes ;)

For servers, or for desktop? If it's for servers, then CentOS all the way! It's one of the most stable server distros around, and there are enough experts in CentOS administration that it's easy to get help in case you need it.
Now, for desktop... I've used quite a few, but my current favorite is Linux Mint. Some people call it "Ubuntu done right" and I'm inclined to agree.

Looks like CentOS is winning by a landslide. Was there any doubt? :D
Regarding desktop Linux, I don't really have one preference. I'm one of those poor saps who is forced to work on a Windows machine, so I tend use Windows XP most of the time. I do play around with Linux whenever I can, however, and I dream of the day when I can ditch Windows and use Linux full time. The distro I've been playing around with lately is ZenWalk. It's a Slackware derivative distro that uses the XFCE desktop. It's a pretty little distro and light, too — I can fit it into my USB drive and take it anywhere.

Right, ZenWalk always aimed to create a lightweight Linux distribution. Thank you for adding that information... It's always nice to know what people are using..

CentOS got my vote. By far they are the best Linus distros. I've been with servers that use some of the others and for me I'm happy with CentOS.

CentOS seems to be a popular choice but I like Ubuntu better and I've been using it more. Also, CentOS is probably more useful for servers while other distributions are better choices for home use.

Most people here are obviously going to vote for their favorite distro to use for servers.
Ubuntu is a very good desktop distro though.
I myself use Fedora on desktops.

I like that, can that be my answer? I started off years ago knowing nothing (still kind of feel that way some days) but those are my choices as well. RH was "ok" and Gentoo was "so so" but I still like my Ubuntu over anything else I have tried so far.

You can try and check CentOS operating system for some time and most probably, you will choose CentOS operating system for yourself
There is a good news for Ubuntu users as most of the users are satisfied with the performance of Ubuntu Server Edition which had been launched some time ago. Hence, if you are looking forward to have Ubuntu on your server, Ubuntu Server Edition is for you
