Default Bittorrent?

Can be slightly illegal, but does anyone use this for legitimate reasons?

We've started using it for our downloads center for our site, premium users can use direct links to our download servers (as they're valued).. but users which simply leech are subset with having to download off other leechers.

I've heard of bittorrent network used for load balancing a website which i'm intriudged about... does anyone have any experience about this?

Used to use it for Linux distributions but I don’t use Linux any more so I don’t’ need it. It is a great method of file distribution.

Post Limitations of BitTorrent

1. Lack of anonymity

It doesn’t offer any kind of anonymity to its users. So it’s easy to obtain
IP addresses of all the current and previous participants in a swarm
from the tracker. This may cause attacks to the insecure systems of
the users. Some clients like u torrent try to solve the problem by running
data transfer through multiple peers. This procedure makes it harder to
trace back the source or destination of an individual person.

2. The leech problem

Bittorrent file sharers have little incentive for becoming a seeder after
they finish downloading, compared to users of client/server technology.
These results in gradually dying out of torrent swarms, leading to a
lower possibility of obtaining older torrents.

3. The cheater problem

There are cheating clients BITTHIEF which claims to be able to
download without uploading. Such works have affects on the
cooperative nature of the bittorrent protocol. It’s useful for people in
some countries where uploading material is illegal and downloading is
