Default SSL certificates

I know that SSL certificates are used by websites to protect data passed to and from a server.
And do you know If you get a SSL certificate, how to connect it to your website? Is there any procedure to do so?

Please have a look at the one of the procedure to setup SSL certificate on IIS 5.0, making use of Certificate Server 2.0 as Certificate Provider -
