like the title, is there any way to advertise our site for free?
Do you think pasting our link in chat rooms or sending random emails are good ways?

It depends on different site or what are you selling/showing on your site but I dont think posting your link on chat rooms or spam emails are good idea.
You could try other blogs and write comments on their blogs maybe

Well, i would also suggest you to post in forums, i.e. in their offer section, perhaps the best suitable would be a forum in relation to your product.

Agree with marcus. I think it is also important to select forums with very high traffic on it.
