Default Image Optimisation

Well I have learnt to optimise for good keywords and also good content. But I confused with optimisation for images. Is there any way to optimise good images for my website?
Thanx in advance

Well, Optimisation for images depend a lot on size of an image and also its quality. Having unique alt tags for images helps in optimisation instead of keyword stuffing. And finally the unique content which describes the image very well which should be short one.

I would rather suggest you to convert all images into .gif, thereafter you can also convert table str. into css str (i.e. Div) this would help crawlers to identify the images in a better manner.

In order to get your images optimized for the search engines follow these steps :

1. name your images like this :"leonardo_di_caprio.jpeg" and not picture_18219.jpeg

2. use the ALT TAG to describe the image

Thumbs up Alt-tags.....

HTML tag that provides alternative text when non-textual elements or typically images, cannot be displayed are called as Alt-tags.

These Tags are commonly omitted from web pages, from the smallest personal pages to the largest web corporate sites. Yet, if properly used, ALT Tags can be quite useful. Among other things, ALT tags can:

* provide further detail for an image or the destination of a hyperlinked image.

* enable and enhance access for people with various disabilities.

* provide much-needed information for people who surf the Web with graphics turned off, and people who surf the Web with text-only browsers.

* assist in navigation when a graphics-intensive site is being viewed over a slow connection, enabling site visitors to make navigation choices before graphics are fully rendered.
