Well, i must say google algorithms are unique, as far as page ranks are concerned, they are alloted to the websites on the basis of various factors such as descriptive contents, appropriate title tags, meta tags, backlniks etc.
However, it has been noticed that .gov and .edu sites have high pr, what would you say about that jack?? 8)
PageRank is Google's measure of link popularity of a site and it is followed by Google and not other search engines in their ranking algorithm. Even in Google's ranking algorithm PageRank is just one of the many factors which determine a site's ranking.
In cse of .edu and .edu links, I will give more importance to them because they have high PR and also they are given more weightage by search engines. IMO, its difficult to get inbound links from those sites but if you get that, its just priceless.
PageRank is just a mere number and it doesn’t bother me much because personally I concentrate much on the traffic which I get on my site as well as the sales conversions which my site can make.
I would actually say that I’m not PR crazy.
