I made a mistake lately when I was entering Youtube. I pressed the SHIFT key instead of the CTRL key and I went into Youtube.net. There is no website yet for this page and it didn't redirect to Youtube.com. Is it possible that someone can register this domain?
I checked whois and this is owned by Google. Do we need to buy this domain from Google if ever we want it?
Well, Youtube.net is registered by Google and it seems that they haven't setup a redirect on this domain name yet (not sure about the reason for it and I am surprised ;)). If you wish to purchase this domain name (which is almost impossible as Google won't sell it ), you need to contact Google as they are the owner of the domain name.
Even Youtube.org is not being redirected to Youtube.com. This is an very intriguing why Google didn't do anything with these domain names. Maybe someone can enlighten us why Google is not doing anything on these domain names.
I'm sure these domain names have high prices on them. I don't know if anyone is sane enough to buy it and then compete with the .com counterpart. I also don't think that Google will sell this so easily.

Well, there is no information given about this on the internet (as far as I know) and hence it's very difficult to comment on it.
