Yes that's the question. If you were looking for tools to use on your own computer, Dreamweafer is a good option either for newbies or experienced users.

There are many ways of creating your own site and you can use the option which you feel is the easiest. Applications like Dreamweaver and Frontpage can be used to create sites on your local machine, whereas, there are some online site builders like RVsitebuilder which can help to create your site using a web browser.

If you wouldn't like any of these options, you can consider CMS's like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal etc. to create your site which are simple enough to help you to create sites

Hope this helps....

There are website building software, such as: Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive, FrontPage and many others. These programs help you to build a website without needing to know too much html. Next, with a site builder you can create your site online.

Yahoo offers a free site builder. Might want to look: geocities.yahoo.com. I've heard of webs.com. However, never had a chance to use them.

Hey AbbieGirl,

Yahoo has closed down Geocities on 26th October 2009. It wont be possible now to use the control panel offered by yahoo.

In my opinion it is best to find some free web site template that looks like something you can like and then use Dreamweaver to tweak it further.

I also think that it's way better for beginners to start customizing a template than starting a site from scratch. It's better to learn this way.

Indeed. There are many web templates available on the internet and one can choose the most appropriate template and develop it using a Sitebuilder or some other application. This would save a lot of time and effort and is the most recommended solution for newbies who wish to have their own site

I meant Dreamweaver, sorry.

I agree with Cazzy that customizing a template is easier especially for beginners than building a website from scratch. That's what I did when setting up my website. Using CMS also a good start even for experienced webmasters.

Templates are easy but most times you do need a little knowledge before hand in knowing what you are doing to edit it to match the specifications that you need. Many people shopping for those are going to know what they are doing, not looking for freebie sites. Also, most who do look for freebie sites might also need managed support (hosting wise), just a thought.

Default website builders

there are several website programs out there to use most website hosting companies like Godaddy offer a free builder, but with limitations.Google and yahoo also offer the same with paid hosting. Dreamweaver is great but need time to learn it. basic html can be a good start, then go from there.
