Default Amazon and PayPal

I always wonder why doesn't Amazon use PayPal as one of the payment methods? I often shop on Amazon and I am OK to pay using my credit card, but it will be more convenient to make payments through PayPal. Is it just a matter of time?

Well, Amazon doesn't allow Paypal. However, you can always setup a Paypal debit card and use the same for your Amazon purchases.

Although, Amazon has introduced Amazon Checkout instead which actually competes with Paypal and Google Checkout.

Thanks Shane for the information. I never heard about Amazon Checkout before. Can you use Amazon Checkout to make transactions with any merchants or you can use it to make payments on Amazon only?

This is the first time I have heard about Amazon Checkout program. I wonder do they offer merchant account like you can have with Paypal?

I'm shopping through Amazon all the time and I also don't like that they don't offer PP. It would be much easier if that option was available.

I prefer to use PayPal than use my credit card also, so it would be great if Amazon accept PayPal as one of their payment methods. I hope you right that it's just a matter of time.

Not all places allow the Paypal debit card to be used, even with the Visa/Mastercard logo on it. I came across one last week but for the life of me I can not remember which place (old age must be kicking in).

Paypal is a better option as you can place a dispute and chargeback your money if you do not receive your goods.

True but lately its been a pain for me only for when I randomly send out payments for things, the notes field isn't there any more when you go back to look at past transactions. I wish they would bring that back, its great for me.

That's true. You can request a charge back from the credit card company you use when you don't get the goods you paid for. I just wonder who would serve you better and faster in this regard, PayPal or credit card companies like Visa.

I fully hate Google Checkout, it seems to take forever for anything to clear and if Amazon Checkout is anything like GC its going to drive me mad. I hate the idea of waiting half a day for something to clear from someone purchasing a product/service from me.

When it comes to chargebacks, Credit card companies like Visa will give faster results in comparison to Paypal.

The reason for this is the fact that when it comes to chargeback, the buyer contacts his Credit card company and then the Credit card company contacts payment gateway like Paypal. Therefore, if the chargeback is filed to Credit card companies directly and they don't need to contact the payment gateway, the time taken will be less
