Hi Maggie,

You can use IP Lookup tool to check out the geographical location of your hosting provider. You can just use the IP address in the IP Lookup tool and search for the location. It will also provide you with the following information:

Address information
Related IP addresses
IP owner info (Whois)
Domain owner info (Whois / Abuse)
Conversions (IPv4 / IPv6)
Ping

Hey Thomas,

Can you please let me know that what does "Conversions (IPv4 / IPv6)" means as I am not aware of this thing and have heard about it for the first time?

Hello Divine Angel,

The fourth revision of the development of Internet Protocol is known as Internet Protocol version 4 i.e. IPv4. It is the first version of protocol which is deployed to a great extent. Whereas, Internet Protocol version 6 i.e. IPv6 is the successor to IPv4 and is still in the phase of advancement when it comes to deployment.

Conversion is basically a process in IP lookup which converts the IPv4 into IPv6.

My ISP actually gives you the option of using IPv6 with your home ADSL connections, which is something you don't get through many isp's

I don't use it as it requires tunneling software to run correctly, as my ADSL modem and switch don't have support for IPv6.

Thats true, there aren't much ISP's who have started offering IPv6 yet.But due to the extensive demand for IP's, IPv6 was developed to tackle this demand.

As a matter of fact this new IP version can be only applied to Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1 and Windows Server 2003 with SP2.
The best part about it is that is can co-exist with IPv4.

Below is a overview of the Network used in IPv6
