Default Windows 7

Has anyone upgraded yet? What do you think of Microsoft's new toy?

Please give me some good news that it's better than Vista, because my blood pressure can't take Vista anymore. If I have to repair or reinstall one more time I am going to start spamming Bill Gates with real live letters telling him what I think about what must be the worst operating system in the universe.

I don't have the time right now to explore new version but will definitely upgrade. I'm still using XP because to me Vista was a complete disaster. I'm sure 7 will be much better and will surpass XP and Vista altogether.

Hi, DanaB52

I've been using Windows 7 past three months and till date and I havent came across much problems with it as comared to Windows Vista. Just one, that there is a small bug of BSoD in Windows 7, which I think microsoft is working on to eliminate it with the updates.

In Windows 7 due to Power Supply, Hardware running beyond its specification limit, Faulty memory and overheating of computer components causes BSoD.

I haven't used it yet,however I have heard some great reviews about Windows 7 and do wish to use. I don't have much to do on computer , i mean high intensity applications are not with me, so I am happy with XP.

Is there anything special about 7 that I should Immediately switch to it

I happened to try my hands on Windows 7 on one of my friends PC's. I found it stable, smooth, and greatly polished.It seems they have introduced new graphical features, taskbar which is equally competent as Mac OS X dock, and device management.Further after digging more it is supposed to have added more security enhancement features making it easier and safer for use.

I'm sure most people here would be keen to read some more features about Windows 7. Lets contribute our experiences and information about Windows 7 in this thread, in the meanwhile let me find more info. on this.Would soon update it here as I come across any.

Microsoft tried to include every possible new feature in Windows 7 to make it more user friendly then any other windows version. There are many new features in Windows 7 like:

1) Best was support for virtual hard disks.

2) Performance is also improved specially on multi-core processors.

3) Handwriting recognition

4) DirectAcess, kernel and Boot performance everything is improved.

5) Internet Backgammon, Internet Checker and Internet Spades all three which were previously removed from Vista are also restored.

WIndows 7 will definitely take us to a more easier level of operations when compared to few of the previous one's.

Im currently running Windows 7 on a new system I built as a Christmas present

I never used Vista as I found it to be very annoying and frustrating. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64bit edition and I have been really enjoying the new system. The speed is great, my i7 CPU never seems to be too stressed. It handles new hardware great and I haven't had any problems with it so far.

The new interface is great, runs smoothly and multiple monitors are a must for windows 7

Very impressed with Microsoft's effort.

Default Godmode

If anyone is interested, to access the much talked about "GodMode" folder follow this simple step.

Create a new folder on the desktop.
Then rename the folder to;
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Your folder will change to a new icon and be renamed automatically to "Godmode"

Open it up and enjoy having all the system setup options available to change to your taste.

Microsoft has also Notes gadget in Windows 7 and replaced it with Sticky Notes and also introduced a some new feature in Windows 7 called as Aero Snap, Aero Peek and Aero Shake. Also in Windows 7 the sidebar has been removed and the gadgets can be aligned to any side of the screen.

Default Desktop Widget

It would be great if someone out there developed a Desktop Widget/Gadget that allows you to monitor your dedicated server from your desktop.
