Default Who's your domain registrar?

Mine's Namecheap. In fact, all my domains are registered at Namecheap. So okay, I've never been with another registrar before so I can't really make any comparisons, but I've been with Namecheap for 7 months now and can't really complain.

How about you? Where do you buy your domains?

I'm using GoDaddy and they've been working fine for me. Dunno if I should switch or not since I've heard plenty of bad things about them. But since I haven't had a problem with them, perhaps I should just avoid the hassle of finding a new registrar.

there are mixed reviews for Godaddy. However, as long as everything is working fine for you, you should stick with them.

I have personally been using Enom without any issues.

Here too, Enom. I have few personal domains that I use, all I have registered with Enom. They all really work well.

I've been using Godaddy for ages now. My first domain was with them, then my friends also used Godaddy for a couple of their domains. I really haven't tried or even heard of too many other ones. But I also haven't had the need to look for another one.

People should understand that all registrars have their horror stories. Godaddy has like a 99% market share (literally) in domains. Therefor since they have more customers, they have more horror stories.

I've been using godaddy for 5 years, never had a problem.

Well, Godaddy is definitely the biggest or say the largest domain registrar on the Internet now, however, I think the figure you have given for market share is not correct

You can find the figures (the figures may be approximate ) on market share of domain name registrars on

www dot webhosting dot info/registrars/top-registrars/global and registrarstats dot com.

It's great to know that you did not face any problem with godaddy

Okay, so I guess I was a tad high

Still godaddy has around 28% share with second place going to Enom with only around 7%.

I bet you though if you take domains that are only used for ad sites out of the equation, Godaddy easily shoots up to around 75%. (just me guessing though)

You were quite high than the actual percentage (99%), isn't it ? (just kiddin )

Yes, godaddy does have the highest share and Enom is quite behind it as for now, however, Enom is also a good domain registrar

Well, I am not too sure about the number of domains which are used for ads. However, as godaddy is the largest domain name registrar, the possibility that it has registered most of the domains which are used for ads is certainly high

Actually, 99% may not be that much off. I was reading an article last month on Godaddy and how highly they dominate the domain registry market. Research is supposed to be "underway" as the article said, because Godaddy has so many Re-Sellers and affiliates that are dedicated to them and have domains used for ads, purchase both through Godaddy and other registry companies that they believe that 95-97% is actually Godaddy behind the scenes. Crazy world! I believe the new research is to be release next year. That will be interesting.

Although i am new to this part of world... i can contribute something to this ..Other that Godaddy and enom i have also heard about tucows... website owners can have a look at it too...

tucows is not a domain name registrar, however, tucows can offer domain names at lower prices if domain names are purchased at bulk

I have never really heard of Nominet, is this one new in the past few years or so? I have just always used Enom. I guess I am a stickler when it comes to things I like.

Interesting!! I never new something like this would be in existence. Actually, I forgot everything is possible in the Internet industry

Well, I think hosting companies can look forward to this option as hosting companies register domains regularly and hence they can work out a deal with tucows to register domains which will be a good option as tucows registers domains at lower prices (that's what they claim )

However, the prices are not known as they did not reveal anything about the registration charges on their site I think they do work out a deal if you register more domains Contact information is given and one can contact them in order to work out a deal
