Have you been following the news on Iran?

I've just recently started reading and following the news reports about the current situation in Iran. Everything I've read has been intense, heartbreaking, tragic and inspiring. Yes, inspiring. Prior to these events, when I talked to people about Iran or heard people talking about Iran, people tended to dismiss it, labeling it a terrorist breeding ground and other terms of like vein. Others have spoken of simply bombing Iran. Would they bomb Iran now?

To be honest, what I have seen and read of the Iranian people marching in protest — of those Iranians on Facebook and Twitter and using the power of the Internet to spread their message when traditional media has failed, of those Iranians who march out in support of freedom, knowing that they may be killed for their cause — it is, quite simply, one of the most compelling demonstrations of courage that I have ever seen. We who already have our freedom have forgotten what it must have been like to fight for it, and so we tend to take it for granted. Iran is a reminder of the price that must be paid for freedom.

I've been watching the news, too, and it's a terrible tragedy what's happening in Iran. Some of the stories and photos taken are quite moving, though. It's amazing just how much people are willing to sacrifice when they have a cause that's worth fighting for.

It's a terrible tragedy what's happening in Iran right now. I can't even look at some of the videos of it. How could Ahmadinejad claim to be the rightful leader of Iran and not condemn the violence done against his own people? >:(
