Blind Search: a search engine test

You always hear people saying things like X search engine is better than search engine Y, but opinions about that tend to be rather biased. I admit I'm as biased as anything other (I lurve Google). Anyway, I found this little test online that lets you perform a search using the big three (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) and lets you vote on which search results you liked better. Of course, they don't tell you which result is from which search engine until after you cast your vote. Head over to blindsearch.fejus.com and find out which search engine really gives you the best results.

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised that Bing performed substantially well in the test, and so did Yahoo. I guess that tells you just how good search technology has gotten in the past few years for all major search engines to be able to deliver practically similar results.

Now that's interesting. Taking away everything extra, I couldn't tell if the results were from Yahoo, Google, or Bing. It was hard to vote, because of that, but they all did equally well.

Certainly interesting. It is good to have a tool something like this one to find the difference between search engine results. When it comes to results, yes, there is a difference in the results you will find for each keyword in different search engines. The reason is ofcourse, algorithms of the search engines

Sometimes, you will also find that the search results are almost similar in different search engines which is good for the websites rankings on top of the search results on each search engine

The results for images is also a good way to find out the relevancy of the search engine. Hence, generally, I do that to find out what kind of search engine it is As far I think, Google has been the best till now but Bing is catching up faster and hence I waiting for it. When it comes to Yahoo search engine, I do not even try to use it ;)
