Default Laptop vs Desktop

I am thinking about switching my desktop for a laptop but I have DW, Fireworks, Flash, plus a few smaller image editors and music programs. Would a laptop with all this software run slower than a desktop?

Desktop or Laptop doesn't affect speed, it mostly affects price. If the processors in the two are the same, they'll run at the same speed. And if the RAM is also the same, performance should be virtually identical. Laptops usually cost more for the same level of performance because of the need for smaller parts and more intricate assembly. However, if the same stuff is under the hood, the performance will be the same.

Thank you Larry. I guess I didn't realize that they all have the same stuff in there. The Laptop is so much smaller that it's hard to believe that they can run the same. Thanks again! Thanx

I can't get along without my laptop. If I'm not mobile then I can't function. I'm on the go so much that the standard desktop would just slow me down.

I take my laptop to the cabin on weekends and use it there to do the same work I do on my desktop. But like Madmax said, I can't be without my laptop, I'd go crazy.

It should be the same if both the laptop and the desktop have the same specs. But like larry says, laptops are more expensive. In the shops here I have seen laptops being sold for almost half again the price of a similarly spec'ed desktop! But if you want something you can bring around, then a laptop would work for you. Just be careful about not letting it overheat! If you can, buy a laptop cooling pad or something.

I think you're going to love your laptop. I love mine. I can use it anywhere and anytime. It's small enough to be on the kitchen table, at the park, and even in the bathroom. Enjoy!
