Default Multiple versions of IE on your computer

This may be a dumb questions, but how do I go about

having several versions of IE on my computer?

I have IE7 on my computer now but was thinking it might

be a good idea to add IE8. When I went to download IE8,

it upgraded my IE7, which I didn't want.

So how can I have both IE7 and IE8 on my computer?

Microsoft offers virtual machines with Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8 with
xp or vista. Hopefully this will help you out with your dilemma. I don't have it myself but as I understand it, you will then have all three.

Honestly, i don't prefer to use IE on my local machine and Firefox works fairly well.

Thank you for your help. At this point I'm not sure what I want to do. Perhaps I'll give Firefox a try. The main thing is to get where you need to be. Thanks again for all of your help!
