why do .dov and .edu domains have higher page rank ?

whats my opinion is that

since these sites are included with government policies (.gov) and
education ( .edu) they have to be promoted in any while...and thats why they are promoted....

They trade their sites or promote them across the states and and on other parts of the world that's why they get most of the higher page rank in Google. Their website content associated with .gov and .edu are very much helpful in most of the top educational and governmental research used by internet surfers all over the world.

I definitely agree. Educational institution websites and government websites are frequently searched in search engines and they also have higher quality ranks when compared to any other TLD's.

Shane is right on this as government websites and educational websites are searched quite often on the internet. But it is really difficult to say why these domains have a higher page rank. The page rank of a page also depends on the search engines and the number of times the site has been searched on the search engine. Also, it depends on the algorithm of the search engines and the algorithm of the search engines has not been understood till now. So it is very difficult to tell exactly why these domains have a high page rank.
