Default Advice for Content Management Systems

im looking at CMS's to update my site. The last CMS i used was Nucleus, but that was a good few years ago, and im wondering if theres anyone who can recommend a good CMS?

im currently playing with the newest version of nucleus, and having a look at Mambo. any suggestions would be great.

IMO, typo3 and e107 are nice CMS portals available. You should also go through this link. http://opensourcecms.com/index.php?o...8&Itemid=1 43
I think it will help you to take decision for choosing CMS portals.

hey, yer having checked them all out - it seems the better/more complex a CMS is - the less useful it is for me and the less customizable it is...

i think i might just stick with the simple blogging news style CMS's and add any PHP bits i need to by myself.

one thing im going to be needing is multiple language (japanese and english) - and ive been looking at "b2evolution" - anyone tried it?

ps. will try that cms link now.

Quite a lot depends on how much you want the CMS to do, do you just want a CMS that can grab posts from the forum board and display them along with some modules to displays stuff like member stats etc

Or do you want a fully blown CMS that lets you create articles and a lot more?

I suggest you get a custom CMS. There are really good cms's out there already but they are limited to what they can do and might not be right for you.

You should save a couple hundred bucks and pay a programmer to make you a custom CMS that has everything you need, that way it is unique and is fully friendly with you.

Perhaps, CMS can also be installed through cPanel - Fantastico. Some of them are as follows :

- Drupal (6.6)
- Geeklog (1.5.1)
- Joomla 1.5 (1.5.7)
- Joomla (1.0.15)
- Mambo Open Source (4.6.5)
- PHP-Nuke (7.9)
- phpWCMS (1.1-RC4 Rev. A)
- phpWebSite (0.10.2)
- Post-Nuke (0.764)
- Siteframe (3.2.3)
- Typo3 (4.2.1)
- Xoops (2.0.18.1)

With a few simple clicks, you can install it on your hosting account on dedicated server.

installing CMS is ready at the Fantastico area through your cPanel, just like Shane Phillips mentioned.

Choosing a content management system purely depends on your requirements. You will find many Content Management Systems and you can choose any of them for yourself. I would suggest you to take a closer look on the features you get with the Content Management System you are looking forward to. This will certainly help you to choose the best Content Management System for yourself.
