Default Magento Enterprise Edition & Magento Community Edition

Hi

My question is about Magento E-Commerce software. Are anyone using the Enterprise or Community version here? If you are using Enterprise version, then let me know, it is really worthy to spend $12,990 USD/yr? I think only big market players like E-Bay and Amazon can afford it. Fire1

There are e numbers of entrepreneurs in the market who are using the Community version due to this cost factor, but it doesn't sounds that every one using open source Magento. At lease dozens of corporations using Enterprise version without any hesitation. Yes, $12,990 USD/yr is pretty costly, but each user has its own requirements.

However, it is an unbelievably powerful e-commerce software. My only concern issue is that it's a bit resource hungry application. At least you have a well configured VPS or Dedicated server to run it.

TO OP

FYI, Amazon spends millions of dollars on their own IT infrastructure. If you think enterprise edition is only affordable for big fishes, then you are mistaken. $12,990 per year is just peanuts for many online stores, because they doing reasonable level of sales.

If you are not being able to afford enterprise edition, then you need to choose community edition. You just need to download it, as it is freely available on their website. Once you download complete copy it and modify the Magento according to your requirements. You need to make sure that you will continue to get ahead, because all contribution made back to community edition application by others will also be available under the same license. The source code will always be freely available so make sure you customize your application to make it more secure.
