I was wondering, if clients opt Google Checkout payment option over PayPal? As now I am currently offer only PayPal option, however, for more flexibility I am planning to offer more alternatives for payment gateway for my clients. What I need to know, your opinions about payment methods?
Usually many customers prefer PayPal over Google Checkout so few people would like to opt Google Checkout and other PayPal. Hence, it's better to offer them both payment options.
In my opinion, if you are offering too many options for payment methods, it can confuse customers as well. I believe it will become easy to offer payment options according to customers requirements.
TOS of PayPal makes negative view on merchant and that is the reason as right now I preferred Google Checkout option, however, both payment gateways are good payment processor, but the majority of clients still opt PayPal over Google Checkout. Even though I have seen low interest rate in Google Checkout. On the other hand PayPal definitely has more interest rates.
As per the business point of view I think Google Checkout payment option is better than PayPal. It make things little easier and in terms of managing balance sheet definitely I'd like to go with Google Checkout. As now I am using bank transfer gateway for my business dealing that allows me to charge my clients easily and on the other hand I can put the money into my bank account easily, without any hassle.
I never tried Google Checkout, however, there are no disadvantages to offer it as an alternative, as long as your payment alternatives are clear to possible clients. On the other hand PayPal has been a recognized name on the Internet since long time. Regarding to payment processing I think that most of the people out there still prefer PayPal as a payment method.
In terms of popularity PayPal is definitely a top payment option right now. However, current trends in online business demands more payment methods for flexibility so it is good for an e-commerce web sites to include more options for transactions.
