I have a small site, we sell a few things here and there but we still stay logged into chat when someone visiting might have a question. Today someone came in and actually heckled us for not having more payment options. We have CC and Paypal and a few random others, but because this person could not use PP where they were located they felt the need to heckle. Umm why? Anyone else has this issue?
There are always going to be some or other clients who will be unable to use the payment methods you allow. But make sure you have the major payment options available like, 2checkout, Paypal, Google Checkout.
I have all of those and I know you can not please everyone but it seems like each time I add something new, someone else whines about it.
Google Checkout is lately acting a little odd too, comes through with a clear transaction and lately I have gotten two charges that come and double back that are not really clear to start with.
Well, someone would always whine if he could make a payment the way he wants. I think if you accept CC and PayPal, you will be able to accomodate most potential buyers, depending on the products you sell, of course.
Each payment gateway have their own policies and regulations hence you need to select them after doing some study. Well, you can integrate few more payment gateways such as Moneybooker, 2Checkout and paypal as few of them are restricted in some countries.
While it's important to try to accommodate potential customers, there's only so much you can do. Sometimes all you can do is be polite while someone takes out their baggage on you (which it sounds like this incident was a case of).
I am still stuck between both what Angela notes and what Skipper notes and I truly hate being stuck in the middle. A people pleaser by nature I guess, but really it does get frustrating sometimes.
