E-commerce Carts-Worth Buying?

I would assume that there are some free shopping cart solutions available, alongside the bought ones. Are the paid ones so much better that they are worth the money?

I'm currently working on a site that is running Joomla with the Magento shopping cart system. It's free, highly configurable and with a large following from users, there are plenty of extension (plugins) available for Magento.

There are other options.

Do the free systems, say perhaps running Google shopping cart, do a little less for the reputation of a site? Do you think it looks better to have something that is a little less obvious?
