Default Does your income cover the hosting cost?

Currently I have a small website which I monetize using Adsense. As it is a new website, I haven't earned much from Adsense yet. It doesn't even cover the hosting cost. It needs more traffic and higher CTR to earn my better income.

What about you? Does your earning from your website cover at least the hosting cost?

My blog haven't earned my so much money yet as I just started it. So I still take from my own pocket to pay the hosting service. I am still promoting it to get higher ranking and more traffic, and I plan to monetize it promoting affiliate products.

I think in the beginning most people's website income doesn't cover their hosting costs. That's why it's smart to either pay in one lump sum or save some money ahead of time until your website brings in more income.

I agree with you, Webstarter. My new website and blogs still get me spending more than what I earn from them. So I also do other online jobs to pay the hosting bill.

I think it is better to talk about "how to make a new website earn"?

No offense to the topic creator because I can't figure out why we need to talk about covering hosting cost. Many people are making websites for the sake of giving out information and they don't even earn income from their websites. Now, if you wanted to monetize a new website then I guess we can give advices on how to do it.

First thing I can think of right now is the content of your website. The contents of your website will be the one that will attract visitors to your website.

I agree with you too Philly, but it is a valid concern to wonder how much it will cost you in the beginning until you see some income. I know this is a factor which has caused many people to give up the good website building race.

Philly. My thoughts exactly.

You follow my line of thought. I would love to see a Blog that makes enough money to live off. (AU$ average income per year in Australia is $50000 - $70000. 45,005.50 USD to 63,007.70 USD)

Get that sort of money from a Blog and I would give up everything to make that sort of easy money. But hey. I couldn't care less what someone did during their day then someone would care about my daily experiences.

And I guess many others like me do too, otherwise everyone would have a Blog, post a couple things a day and watch the money flow in. Does it happen in reality? No..

P.S. I never bother clicking on Advertising links. Point? Majority of advertising links are pointless rubbish designed to take your hard earned money from you.

I'll keep mine to myself if you don't mind.

I follow you NCHosting! I can't figure out how the advertisers get real customers from the links on Google Adsense. The absolute winner here is Google because advertisers pay them big bucks to place a tiny winy ad on somebody's website.

I have to say that what you are dreaming of is quite true to a few individuals. Facebook, YouTube, and even Google started from a website that nobody knows about. The owners did their best to get the needed attention and upgraded the necessary things for it to be friendlier to everyone. Now these owners are rich because of what they have started.

Those are good points Philly! I always keep in mind too that all the big names started somewhere and were virtual nobodies, but they kept at it until they found the success they wanted. You can't fail if you keep going until you see the results you want.

I think the fact that many marketers continuously using Adwords to promote their products can be considered a proof that they enjoy the desired results from this kind of marketing efforts. Yes there are some people who end up losing money and getting nothing using Adwords. This kind of advertising is indeed not for everyone.

Right now my blog is the only thing up and I have nothing running on it as honestly I am still trying to figure out what direction I want to go in. Having a good host that I can afford right now for a growing site I am not too worried about covering my bills (I have a FT job to help with that).
