Default How to free lance?

For those among us who are freelancers, how do you go about getting jobs? Do you visit sites that looks as if they need help with one thing another or do you use forums and other such avenues.

I usually just seek out forums where freelancers discuss their work and include links to my portfolio/services in my signature. I don't get many jobs, truth be told, but I don't spend a lot of time in discussion compared to a lot of the other members.

When you say freelancers, it means that they are self-employed online. So you go about looking for outsource jobs where you are skilled at or have a knowledge with. You work with a buyer who hires you and pays you well after the work has been done. Then you move on to the next buyer who offers projects to freelancers and programmers. That's what I do.

As a freelancer, I join companies who offer freelance work to its members. I get to choose what I can do or would like to do in my own time, and I am assured of regualr flow of work. I also take contractual jobs from time to time.

Can you give some examples/links to these companies? I don't know whether or not you're willing to share, but I'm always trying to look into new online part-time work.
