It's also a good idea to link to other blogs that are compatible with yours, and to give credit when you quote a fellow blogger. Some of my most productive backlinks were from bloggers who returned the favor!

Giving credit where credit is due is always a good idea, so is small advertising, that can get the ball rolling with word of mouth (the best form of advertising and its free!). Some little things out there can amount to big traffic coming your way, pending you play it safe and follow the rules of search engines.

I agree, word of mouth is by far the best form of advertising. In fact, I really don't think it's possible to develop a loyal following without it. Give your audience what they want, and they'll do a lot of your advertising for you.

For marketing blogs and websites, I would like to suggest a technique. I think this technique can be very helpful if you do it properly

RSS feeds is a good option to spread the links and content of your website with less time and effort. You will only have to submit your links in RSS feed directories available on the internet. Once the content of your website or blog is updated, the links will automatically spread with the content :dancing:

If you choose this technique, you won't have to submit your website links again and again and you will definitely save time and effort which is really important in the internet industry

Even if you are a newbie, you can surely use this technique to market your blogs and websites

First, you will have to create an RSS feed link for your website or blog. The link is something like this http:// www. yourdomain. com /feed. Without spaces ofcourse.

Once you have created the link, you can start searching for RSS feed directories on the internet (there are many available, just search Google ;)).

After you find these directories, you can find the link to submit the RSS feeds of your website.

Note:- Some of the RSS feed directories require registration and hence you will have to register to submit the links :o

Tip:- Make sure that you keep a record of the directories you have submitted your RSS feed links to. This will help you in future

Hope this information helps...

I have to agree that utilizing RSS feed in your site helps increase visitors to your blog. You can create a sidebar on your blog corner and put a "My Links" list of your blog links if you have additional blogs to market and let your visitors know. Don't forget to create a link back to your blog site to drive your traffic back. You can participate in other blogsites that allows you blog or comment on other bloggers' blog.

If you submit the RSS feed link of your blogs or websites in RSS feed directories, you will notice a difference in the traffic of your blogs or websites and you will also get a backlink from the RSS feed directory (if the directory provides backlink ;)).

Also, if you start submitting your RSS feed links in the RSS feed directories, it is always better to submit the RSS feed links regularly rather than submitting all at once

If you have 100 RSS directories, submit RSS feed links of your websites regularly in 5 of them regularly rather then submitting the RSS feed links all at once. This will give you more benefit and good rankings :dancing:

A lot of people are now supplementing their blog traffic with Twitter (or so I've heard). There are a number of applications that can allow you to automatically post blog updates to a Twitter account, thus redirecting your followers to your blog.

If you already have a bit of a following, this will probably make a significant difference.

Reading all these posts on how to monetize a blog made me think how much time, physical and mental effort as well as will power and drive are needed to be able to earn from a blog. Is it worth all those? I mean, how long does it take for all those inputs to pay off? When do you say that it has paid off?

Most people would love to make a living by just blogging on a topic that interests them. If you want to making money doing something that everybody loves doing, you need to be a cut above the rest. You need to put in more time and energy, produce more consistently high-quality content, and constantly be seeking new, creative ways to spark interest.

To be perfectly honest, 99.9% of us aren't going to quit our day jobs. There's no guarantee that all the hard work will ever pay off. We're all just hoping that our little corner of the web will catch on and become a personal Golden Ticket.

SEO is just something everyone has tons of ideas about but really there is no magic answer to get the top sites every single time, things change and if one person knew all the answers how fun would that be?

For Promoting blogs, I suggest the following technique.

Quality content
Design is really important
Manage your rss feeds
Choose the right keywords
Backlinks and trackbacks
Submit to blog directories
submit your articles
submit to social bookmarking.

This can help to get better ranking.

How would you protect your blog from other people in the internet who will sell your own article?

According to Alexander, in order to increase the traffic of the blog, you should:

What if another person took your article and make it his own, how do we deal with it?

Well, an article directory usually has reprints rules. For instance, the publishers have to respect the copyrights or the original authors, and they also have to include the full resource box or at the end of the article. But the enforcement of the rules is at your risk and cost.

Now that would need time and money just to make sure that the articles I made will be credited only to me. I guess this is just how the internet works, everyone shares what they have.
