What to do with unused domains
I've got quite a few inactive or unused domains that I've not been able to sell yet. They're just sitting there idly, but I'm wondering if there's a better way for me to use them instead of letting them sit there and gather dust.

Why not park those idle domains so that they can earn some cash for you? You can park them at Sedo or Google AdSense for domains (avoid Godaddy Cash Parking!) and earn a nice penny every time someone stumbles on that domain and clicks an ad.

Yes, domain parking is a good option to earn money. If you have domains which are not being used, you can park your domains on domain parking websites like sedo, parked, whypark, namedrive etc. Sedo is he most preferred from the list  Once you park your domains on these sites, these domain parking sites place advertisements on your domains according to the domain name you have.
After the advertisements have been placed, your domain comes up for the keywords according to advertisements you have for the domain name and according to the keywords you have used to market your domain name. If the visitor lands up on your domain name and clicks on a website, the website which is clicked will pay some amount of money to you :D
It is not necessary that you will earn a very good amount of money, however, if your domain name is kept and is not used, domain parking is certainly a good option ;) Also, if you domain name is parked on these websites for some time, it might be possible that it will gain some importance after some time due to the traffic etc. and if this happens, the value of the domain name will definitely increase which is not possible if the domain name is kept

Nice piece of information Carl. Thanks
What you said was true, I think it is better to park a domain on a domain parking site rather than keeping it with you. It might be possible that you won't earn a good amount of money when you park your domains, however, I think you will surely be able to earn enough money to renew the domains which is better than earning nothing by keeping the domains aside ;)

Thanks a lot for the information Carl and Joseph.
Instead of parking a domain, what if we sign-up for an Adsense account and put Google ads onto the domains? I think we can earn better in this case than just parking it.

Yes, it's a good idea but you can't add adsense on your website till it receives a good amount of traffic.

Yes, I agree with Sam, you need to have high traffic site to add Google Adsense. I think Domain Parking would be the best idea to earn, if your domain is unused.

Exactly. If you can't sell them, mgiht as well park them and see if any advertising revenue trickles down.

Nope, if you have a domain name which is unused, you cannot have Google ads on it and earn money (as far as I know and I think this is right ). Infact, even if you have a site and you are working on it, you won't be able to have Google adsense on it until you have a specific amount of unique visitors on your site per month :( You can find more information about the process and Google adsense through below links :

Hope this helps
