MaxMind?

Anyone using MaxMind? We started using it about a month ago and it has already caught a few fraud orders. It makes me wonder how many fraud orders we had before we starting using it?

Yes, we use Max Mind which is integrated with WHMCS. We are definitely impressed with the way it analyzes each fraud order.

Infact, if your fraud score is more than 5.0, you'll need to enter your pin code and our verification department immediately calls you to confirm the order. If you fail to confirm the order, we do not proceed with the setup.

MaxMind is definitely worth the cost, in my opinion. The security you get from implementing it saves you more money than you actually pay for the service. I've used it before and found it to be very effective in catching fraud orders. I highly recommend it for anyone doing eCommerce!

100% agreed. It helps you save more than that you spend. The fraud detection helps you filter out the unwanted problems. There is a small drawback to it though, it rates payments from some of the African, Russian and some other countries as fraud. But, you can check that out by carrying out a call verification to those orders.

I don't see that as a drawback. Statistically speaking, those countries do carry a higher risk of fraud than anywhere else. While it may be unfair to people from those countries who are legitimate, in the end, it's all about protecting you, the seller, from being ripped off.

Yes, not all the people in these Countries are the same. However, the customers belonging to these Countries should understand that the company has to do the verification in order to make sure that the order is genuine.

In these kind of situations, the payment method used by the Customer is also important. The safest mode of payment is bank transfer but the payment gateways like Google checkout who does the verification before processing the payment also ensures that the payment is genuine. After all, payment is what is important ;)

I don't see this as a drawback either. It's been my experience that most if not all of the fraud orders I've had have come from other countries. This is the best way I can think of to cut back on loss.

I've never heard of MaxMind. I'm not sure exactly what it is that MaxMind is capable of doing. Can anyone explain?

We've been using Maxmind for a very short time. In this short time period, we've caught a couple of fraudulent sales. Each were out of the country so that was a big plus.

Oh, hey, looks like MaxMind can be integrated into free ecommerce scripts like osCommerce and Zencart. That's cool! At only $5/month for the lowest plan, it's definitely something every seller should use. I think I'll will, myself. :D

Yep, that's true, we switched to MaxMind about 45 days ago and it's been integrated into our site. It's worth every small penny too!
