Wordpress vs. Blogger
I have run my blog using blogger, but a friend suggests me use Wordpress for both flexibility and SEO.
I have never try wordpress, but for blogger, I think it is easy to use, also very funny.
can anyone share with your ideas, thanks in advance.

Comaparison between Blogger and WordPress
Blogger- Themes and customization:- You can edit template layouts, styles and colors, or install a third party theme
- Visitor stats:- You can include third party tracker scripts
— or any type of script - Import:- Only from another BlogSpot blog
- Image storage:- 1 Gigabyte. There is no interface to browse through the images unless you sign up for Picasa Web Albums.
- Galleries:- You can use Picasa Web Albums
- Static pages:- Not available
- Post by email:- Submit your posts by email. You can receive new posts by email too (helpful for team blogs).
- Private blogs:- You can restrict access to invited Google account holders
WordPress- Themes and customization:- No template editing. Style sheet editing is only available as a paid upgrade. Many of the 60+ themes let you upload a header image. Some have additional customization options.
- Visitor stats:- No scripts allowed. The admin dashboard shows 2 days of stats and daily, weekly and monthly graphs.
- Import:- Import from Blogger, Type·Pad, Live·JournaI, MovabIe·Type or another WordPress blog.
- Image storage:- 3 Gigabytes. Paid upgrades are available to add more space.
You can also upload .ppt, .doc and .pdf files (more file types with an upgrade). - Galleries:- Simply add the tag [gallery] to any post or page
- Static pages:- Create posts or 'pages'. Static pages are listed in separate menus.
- Post by email:- Not available
- Private blogs:- You can restrict access to 35 invited Wordpress account holders (unlimited with a paid upgrade).
Alternatively, individual posts can be password protected or Private.

Thank you for the above post Martin. It is indeed helpful. Wordpress is certainly preferred by most of the Bloggers as it is quite easy to use and has a lot of features and SEO tools. Also, if you have cPanel control panel with your Linux hosting package, it becomes very easy to install and update Wordpress as you can do this by few simple clicks using Fantastico which is a tool included in cPanel control panel.

If you're talking about a hosted platform (ie. someone hosts it for you), then both Blogger and Wordpress have their pro and cons. Martin posted a very detailed list about those. The one advantage Wordpress has over Blogger, though, is that it is also a blogging product which you can install on your own server or hosting account, giving you more control than if you simply hosted with them, something that Blogger can't do. If you use Blogger, you're stuck with them.
Wordpress also beats Blogger in terms of flexibility. I have a use Wordpress in the past as a pretty decent CMS, with a little tweaking. Why bother with powerhouses like Drupal or Joomla anyway when Wordpress works just as well for a simple site? Wordpress also works better for integration — ie. integrating your WP system with a forum or photo gallery, etc — and there are a ton of plugins for it. All this is if, of course, you're using the installed version instead of the hosted one. As Martin pointed out, the hosted version is rather limited.

The one thing I like better about Blogger than Wordpress is that you can put your own ads on Blogger without upgrading. The thing I like most about Wordpress is they give you some different options such as using Wordpress.mu to start your own blogging community.

I can take either or, I guess. However, I do like the fact that I can put my Google Adsense on Blogger if I wish to do so.

Being able to include your own AdSense ads in Blogger is definitely a big plus. It may not be as flexible as Wordpress, perhaps, but I've seen some really creatively designed blogs in Blogger. I still can't quite get around how they handle themes, though it's been a while since I used it and maybe things have changed since.

I actually like LiveJournal over Blogger and Wordpress for one reason: community. There's quite a lot of people on LJ and it's much easier for people to find your blog there, as well as better chances of you building a following. You can't have your own ads, though (LJ doesn't allow it), but you can cross-link your blog to a mirror blog that does allow ads, like Blogger.

I like the format in Wordpress and its flexability, but I like being able to monetize in blogger. I've never used LiveJournal so I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the heads-up Jenny!
