Does alexa ranking has any importance in internet marketing? Any idea on how to top alexa ranking?

Forget about Alexa, its of no use rather try to top Google ;)
If your website is browsed by thousands of visitors who have Alexa bar installed on their browser then there are chances you may have better Alexa position.
Have read somewhere that you can manipulate Alexa ranking ;)

Yes, that's right, alexa ranking of a site is determined on the basis of visitors that visited your site via alexa toolbar. IMO, alexa don't have much importance except the direct advertising. The better your alexa ranking is the more webmasters and advertisers can place bid price to advertise on your site.

I don't think so Alexa ranking is much important in internet marketing. Alexa's basic objective is to show the actual traffic of a particular website. The number that Alexa shows serves as only a random sample of the actual traffic of a particular website. The reason is that only a small percentage of internet users are using Alexa toolbar, where Alexa traffic ranking solely base its computation and ranking.

The Alexa Rank is a ranking system which bases its ranking schema on the level of traffic each website receives from the number of people who visit a website with the Alexa toolbar installed. Hence any of the ways to improve Alexa Ranking shall directly or indirectly relate to Alexa Toolbar. I do not think that there is any other way to improve Alexa Ranking. If anyone here knows an alternate please feel free to post.

I say if you are ranking in Google who cares about Alexa Rank. The average person has never even heard of Alexa Ranking System anyway.
