Default The effect of Digg in your site

I have been told that getting your website on the front page of Digg can increase traffic exponentially. When I finally launch my own site, should I focus my efforts on sites like Digg to boost traffic?

I've actually heard that this can be a bad thing for your site, especially if you are not an experienced webmaster. The amount of traffic that can be generated from the larger sites like Digg and Slashdot can overwhelm your smaller site.

I don't think so, i am submitting to Digg from quite a long period, but the traffic was just moderate.

I've seen an increase in traffic since using Digg but not enough to overwhelm my server. It's just increased enough to make me more profit.

Inorder to gain good traffic, it is important to select an appropriate category at the time of submission. Digg proves to be very effective for promoting a website. Alongwith Digg also submit to other social networking sites such as Twitter,Technorati,Del.icio.us,Facebook and MySpace. Submitting to these sites surely can bring loads if traffic.

Where do you get those little bars you add to the bottom of blog posts that allows visitors to bookmark posts to their favorite social networking sites?

There's a site called 'addthis.com' and they'll give you the code you want to put at the bottom of your posts so visitors can link to their favorites.

Digg is a good way to boost website traffic, but if you are new and don't have experience about it, then you should take some knowledge from their help section. Half knowledge always works like a poison for a website and you may loose many things due to that. Also, there are many social bookmarking scripts available on web that you can add on your site.

But to get your article on front page it is very necessary to communicate with other members as they can help you to get some diggers to dugg your article. Also, don't just submit your articles and expect from other to get it dugg, you need to bookmark and dugg other as well. Commenting on others will help you get comments on your article too as it will be very much useful to improve your site and its performance.
