Definitely, Directory submissions will always help you to get better rankings for your Blog. Also, Bookmarking your blog posts in some Social bookmarking sites will also help you to get good rankings for your blogs.

Totally agree with carl, directories are good for gaining PR and backlinks, but can't get you much traffic. Niche directories are much effective than the general directories. Submitting to niche directories makes it easy to find you for the consumers that are searching for your service, product or information.

Certainly, if you get Backlinks from the Directories which belong to your Niche/Topic, it will definitely create a better effect on your Search Engine Rankings in comparison to the Backlinks you get from the Directories which do not belong to your Niche/Topic. Also, if you are targeting Traffic from a Specific Country, you will get better results if you submit Directories belonging to the same Country.

I have heard about some Tropical directory. Are they the same as general directories? Anyone knows about it?

Yes, I have heard and seen some Tropical Directories but I did not find anything different in them from general directories. Please let me know if someone finds something different in Tropical directories.

Well, even I didn't find anything different in it from the general directories. By Tropical Directory, do you mean the directories like tropicaldirectory [dot] info?

The best example of Tropical Directory would be tropicaldirectory(dot)info. I wasn't able to find any difference in this directory in comparison to other general directories. Please let me know if you find any difference.

Even i didn't found any directories related to tropical except the one you mention. May be they are same as general directories.

Maybe it's just a name given to them or it might be possible that it was a name given to the Directory which has Tropical as Domain name. However, I am not too sure about it. Just a guess..

If you do your research you can make some good money blogging. But, it takes dedication and without dedication you aren't going to make very much.

I think just about everybody blogs with money in mind. It's the sensible way to blog. If you aren't blogging with money in mind then I think you ought to consider it.

I don't believe everyone blogs with money in mind. There are many people that are totally against the very idea of blogging for a profit.
