Default do you run an e-commerce enterprise ?

Hello !
I have been looking into starting an online shop of some sort for a while, I have worked for a business and developed their entire e-commerce business from scratch by myself, and it has turned out to be very successful for them, I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to start an e-commerce business, weather successful or unsuccessful..

I have an online business (actually several) but I don't use a store front type of site which it sounds like what you are talking about. What I do online has been quite successful for me, though.

Basically, before you run any business you have to make sure you are are aware of the market situation and current trends. If you are welll-versed with the market scenario, being unsuccessful is less likely to happen.

good point - I am pretty well versed in the market that I was thinking about (pc repairs and upgrades, helping people setup websites, etc) the only problem that I was thinking about was that the market is pretty overcrowded, that aside, I would have to market my business on quality, rather than quantity - its better owning a ferrari than owning ten ford focuses =) do you think it could work ?

I am in the process of setting up an e-commerce business and I am currently running one. The one I have is just a blog but it is doing quite well for itself. I think your business can do well if it is done right

I have a blog, it doesnt really make money though, well, it makes a few dollars from google ads, enough to pay for domain renewal for most of my other domains, but definately not enough to leave my day job for! I figure that If I start a part time business doing pc repairs and upgrades (fixing peoples broken internet connections, installing more ram, removing spyware, etc then eventually I will start getting enough business that I can quit my job =)

Here is what i suggest, you will need to study your competitors and their strategy in order to increase awareness of your blog. Aim for areas where there is a requirement and how will you meet those requirements. ;)

I have several income streams but my main one involves selling digital information products. I use a program called e-junkie to automate the sales and delivery process. It makes it much simpler than setting up my own shopping cart and payment procedures on my website.

Yes E-junkie has no transaction limit, no bandwidth limit, no setup fee and no transaction fee.

I've never heard of e-junkie before now. Can you explain a littlel more about what it does for your digital information business? I write and sell ebooks too and am always looking for better ways to do things.

E-junkie is "a life saver for anyone who sells electronic goods". This is what company claims. You will be able to send ebooks, sell mp3 tracks and albums, sell software, icons, fonts and many more things with E-junkie.

The delivery of digital files and codes are automated and secured by the company and this makes it really very convenient for the owners. The shopping cart includes sales tax, VAT, packaging and shipping cost calculator and this is very great for the owners as they do not have to be concerned about it.

I was trying to observe how ebay and amazon run their own business online, probably they have a few skilled employees working on both sites. I would like to set up an online store like that someday and learn something from their strategies.

I currently have several digital products selling on Clickbank, but after reading this thread I opened an account at e-junkie and have a new digital product selling there. It seems to be doing quite well. Thanks for the tip.
