What can be considered an E-Commerce Business?

Is an E-Commerce business anything that is done online for profit or are there specific things? For example, would a blog that sells advertising in its sidebar be considered an E-Commerce business?

A blog that sells advertisement in its heading, sidebar or foot heading is considered an E-commerce business. A website with many advertisements like eBay, amazon and the like are also called E-Commerce websites.

e-commerce is simply anything that tries to make money online (a commercial entity) so, yes, a blog with advertising is an e-commerce business, as is the company that gives you the aderts to display on your site (unless you source the advertisers yourself!!!)

While technically all the examples are of some type of e-commerce, most people think of e-commerce as some kind of a store set up like Amazon, etc. There are many ways to earn online besides a store front that don't entail as much work or coding on the backend.

Regular commerce means an offline business entity that generates income/cash flow from business activities.

E-commerce is exactly the same, only it's all done online using online activities. This means you could sell products or services, you could earn income from advertising, you could sell other people's products as an affiliate and earn commissions - it's still considered e-commerce.

Also, it has been known that some of E-commerce websites earn more income with Advertisements than their own products. ;)
